Android-Nougat

The tech community is eagerly awaiting the official release of the next Android version, Android 7.0 Nougat. Google has not yet made the announcement on exactly when the version will be released, leaving many hopeful that the release will come soon. There, however, seems to be good news from a Canadian carrier who has some information about the roll-out. The new version of Android is set to include security updates.

Updates from Rogers’ firmware update schedule indicate that the official Android release will soon hit the HTC Nexus 9 Tablet. Although no specific date was given, a report by PhoneArena hints that the update will be available in the next month or two. The report also pointed out that other Nexus devices such as the Nexus 5, 5X, 6 and 6P would also receive the update in the same period.

Rogers released an update schedule of when the latest version of Android would be available for download. They, however, gave a disclaimer stating that the dates indicated were subject to change. They also pointed out that ensuring the accuracy if the dates was a top priority for them. The update schedule shows that devices like the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, LG G4 and Huawei Kiwi GR5 would be receiving the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update “soon”. However, Sony M5 Aqua devices are slated to get the same firmware update on the 29th of July.

HTC have confirmed that at least three smartphones from its range, the HTC 10, One M9 and One A9, would receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The company, however, could not give a date for the same. Google recently made the announcement of the name of the latest Android Version, Android Nougat at its Mountain View campus in California. It was previously code-named Android N.
